LOAF1: Vincent Oliver

Format: Digital Download/Limited Edition 3” cd

Vincent Oliver is a name you can hear a lot `round the Lo Recordings offices. We think he is just a terrific bloke. He seems to have at all, a talented visual artist (he just did Nathan Fake`s Visuals for his tour) and a self taught musician who graced us with Loaf`s debut release.

His Highness, Mr. Oliver, is quite an amusing guy so we just thought it will be better to pop some questions for him, and let him tell you the whole shebang behind his music. Please note that this questionnaire may contain language that is not for weak hearted people.

Loaf: When and where were you born?

Preston hospital, north shields. near Newcastle. Apparently sting's mam used to be a maternity nurse there. My dad always used to joke about stings mam whipping my bum.

Loaf: Influences/Chronic illnesses?

I was brought up on a diet of glam-rock. Marc bolan, Steve Harley and David Bowie. I think these chaps form a kind of base for most of my influences. I take inspiration from everything, though. I’m very visually stimulated and I’m into words and that. It’s mostly every day things and the people around me. Its atmospheres and feelings that I’m inspired by and try to achieve. I don't find that music itself inspires my music but more the feeling it creates.

I’ve always had really nuts pals who make smashing stuff, too. They introduce me to all sorts of crackings stuff. Nathan (fake), for example, introduced me to a whole world of good techno type stuff, which I didn't realize existed before. I thought it was all oakenfold and cunts like that.

I’m one of those bastards who want to have a bash at everything and I think that adds new perspectives helps to expand my music into territories it otherwise wouldn't.

No chronic illnesses. I am chronically irritating, though.
